Calculate the exact size of your women's underwear (bra, bustier, bodysuit). If in doubt, it's better to go a size up...

Be careful to control your breathing and position the tape correctly when taking measurements: just one centimetre of difference can change the result. Note that the bra style and brand can also affect the fit significantly.

1. First calculate your band size

Measure the circumference of your ribcage just below the bust. The tape measure should be straight and snug against the skin. Add 12.5 cm (5 inches) to this measurement.

2. Then determine your cup size

Cup depth is of course essential. Too deep and your breasts won't be properly supported. Too small and they'll be compressed and uncomfortable. Measure your bust (chest) circumference at the fullest point, preferably while wearing an unpadded bra. Keep the tape straight but not too tight. The difference between this measurement and the band measurement determines the cup size. If the difference is not a whole number, try the size above and below and adjust using the hooks.

0 to 1 ½ inches - (0 - 3.81 cm) = A cup/bonnet
1 ½ - 2 ½ inches - (3.81 - 6.35 cm) = B cup/bonnet
2 ½ - 3 ½ inches - (6.35 - 8.89 cm) = C cup/bonnet
3 ½ - 4 ½ inches - (8.89 - 11.43 cm) = D cup/bonnet
4 ½ - 5 ½ inches - (11.43 - 13.97 cm) = DD/E cup/bonnet
5 ½ - 6 ½ inches - (13.97 - 16.51 cm) = F cup/bonnet
6 ½ - 7 ½ inches - (16.51 - 19.05 cm) = G cup/bonnet
