Frequently asked questions
Why are US sizes smaller in number?
US sizes do not follow chest circumference in cm like European sizes. They use arbitrary numbering starting at 0 (XXS). FR 40 = US 8 by convention, not by direct calculation.
What does 'vanity sizing' mean?
Marketing practice where brands label clothes smaller than they are, to flatter customers. A size 38 at one brand may equal a 40 at another. That's why measuring your own circumferences is more reliable than trusting labels.
Are Italian sizes very different?
Yes, Italy uses a +4 offset from France: FR 40 = IT 44, FR 42 = IT 46. This difference comes from historical chest measurement in inches × 2.
How do I shop for Asian sizes?
Asian sizes (Japanese, Korean) are generally one size below European. Asian S = European XS. For Aliexpress or Shein, plan to size up by 1 or 2.
